Steven Paul Jobs (1955 - 2011) foi um empresário e
inventor americano, fundador e ex-presidente da empresa Apple, de eletrônicos e
do estúdio de animação Pixar, e é considerado um dos maiores visionários dos
últimos tempos.
Em 1976, Steve Jobs fundou aquela que se tornou uma
das mais valiosas e inovadoras empresas do mundo, a Apple Inc. Steve Jobs é o
pai de produtos revolucionários como o Macintosh, o iPod, o iPhone e o iPad,
que mudaram para sempre o mundo da tecnologia.
Steve Jobs nasceu em San Francisco, seus pais lhe
deram para adoção, pois não tinham condições de criá-lo. Com apenas 17 anos,
Steve Jobs entrou na Universidade Reed College em Portland, Oregon e, depois de
6 meses, acabou abandonando, pois os custos eram muito altos e ele não tinha
condições de pagar.
Steve Jobs foi o responsável por transformar a
Apple na maior companhia de capital aberto do mundo em valor de mercado, e ele
foi também um dos maiores defensores da popularização da tecnologia, e não
apenas para as pessoas com maior poder aquisitivo.
Em 1984, Steve Jobs demitiu-se da Apple e fundou a
NeXT, uma empresa de desenvolvimento de softwares, que eram direcionadas aos
mercados de educação superior e administração. Porém, 12 anos depois, a Apple
comprou a NeXT, e Jobs voltou a sua antiga empresa. Steve Jobs permaneceu na
Apple, como CEO, até agosto de 2011, como CEO, inclusive reergueu a empresa de
uma crise financeira, porém, devido ao estágio avançado de sua doença, achou
melhor renunciar.
Além da Apple, sua carreira como empreendedor
também não parou por aí, Steve Jobs também foi um dos fundadores da Pixar
Animation Studios, empresa que criou alguns dos mais bem sucedidos filmes de
animação de todos os tempos, incluindo Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo,
Os Incríveis, Cars e Ratatouille. Em 2006 a Pixar foi comprada pela Walt Disney
Company.
Steve Jobs, desde 2004, lutava contra um câncer no
pâncreas, e faleceu em 05 de outubro de 2011.
